What is the FSEP conference?

The Florida Student Education Policy Conference is an annual student-run event facilitated by Florida CAN (formerly ENLACE Florida) and partner organizations. While the location of the event changes each year, all students in the State University System and the Florida College System are invited to participate. Selected delegates will convene to present and discuss important issues related to Florida's PreK-20 educational system. By conference end, the delegates will have produced written resolutions (policy recommendations) to be presented to state policymakers and University / College leadership.

When and Where is the 2013 FSEPC?

The 2013 conference will be held Monday, February 21-Thursday, Feb. 24 in Orlando. Florida.

How can I afford to attend the conference?

Florida C.A.N. will fund your travel and lodging. Generous sponsorships from Florida C.A.N. funding partners cover all meals!

Who will I room with?

Ladies with ladies, gents with gents. We will do our best to keep delegation teammates together.

What can I expect from the 4 days of conference?

While educational policy is the top bill for the weekend, there will be many chances to meet and converse with influential state policymakers, network with other student leaders, and learn more about being an active participant in policy development.

What is Florida C.A.N.! Advocacy Days?

During the months of April / May all of the student delegates who participated in the conference will travel thoughout Florida to meet with institutional leaders to discuss their resolutions.  This is a tremendous opportunity to advocate for policy changes designed to improve education and to demonstrate the power of actively engaged student citizens.

What should I do to prepare for the conference?

The most important thing you can do to prepare for the conference is to articulate your story. The most powerful part of convening such an impressive group is hearing your individual experiences and connecting those experiences to powerful policy recommendations. Drawing from your own history, experience and perspective will make the resolutions stronger and more influential!
